Styrid®
Styrene. The mere word can
send shivers down a production manager's back. And with environmental
regulations getting increas
ingly
tighter, the burden of reducing styrene emissions fall squarely on the
manufacturer. However, thanks to Specialty Products manufacturers no
longer have to shoulder that burden alone. The 21st century solution to
styrene emissions is Styrid.
This ready to use styrene suppressant is economical and easy to use, reducing styrene emissions from most polyester resins 50% or more. Its is not a parrafin wax product and its liquid form does not need heating or pre-diluting with solvents prior to use. Simply add Styrid® to your resin before adding the catalyst, mix well and then continue with the catalyzing process as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Proper use of Styrid will assist in conformance to California Rule 1162 without causing delamination or secondary bonding problems. The chart below shows three resins that have been tested with Styrid®.
